A Wet Friday and Conference Tourney Updates
Well, the mighty have fallen at the Big East Basketball Tournament at the Garden in New York City. On Thursday, Syracuse lost to Georgetown, Pit lost to Notre Dame, and Villanova lost to Marquette. All three were favorites. All three went down. Looks like it’s time to SHAKE UP your brackets a bit.

I’ll be looking forward to tonight. I’m going to see the Devils and Penguins in a huge Atlantic Division matchup at the Rock in Newark and taking the young Gun, my son, Gunner, to the game. It should be awesome. Of course, the Devils have owned the Penguins this year and New Jersey’s coming off their big 6‑3 win over the Rangers on Wednesday night. The Penguins lost in overtime last night to the Carolina Panthers 4 to 3, Colorado beat Florida 3‑nothing, Calgary 2‑nothing over Ottawa, Detroit 5‑1 over Minnesota, Carolina I told you won, Toronto in overtime beat Tampa 4‑3 on a Phil Kessel goal, Columbus beat Atlanta 2 to 1, and Saint Louis over the Islanders 2 to 1 in a shootout. Montreal beat Edmonton 5‑4 in a shootout, Boston 5‑1 over Philadelphia, and San Jose 8‑5 over Nashville. I got every single game in the NHL right on the money line on Thursday. That’s right. I picked every single game correctly. You gotta love that kind of action. Everybody that goes to scottbeatstheman.com gets that kind of juice on a daily basis. Ferrall smacking hockey, money line winners around like they’re a piece of bread. Is that even possible to smack a piece of break around, but it is possible to make a lot of bread with my picks.
Nothing but cotton in the NBA last night as well. I hit all three games. I picked Orlando over Chicago 111‑82. Atlanta beat Washington 105‑99, and the Blazers beat Golden State in a wild one, 110‑105.
PGA tour stop is in Miami this weekend at Doral, the monster they call it.
My good buddy Jim Mandich, the legendary Dolphin played on the ‘72 unbeaten Dolphin championship team. He’s a Dolphin’s analyst during their games and a long-time WQAM sports talk host is battling cancer right now. My thoughts are with Jim, the original mad dog. He’s battling a tumor in his bile duct and our thoughts and prayers are with him.
Legendary hall of famer and 14‑time pro bowler, Merlin Olsen, died Thursday at 69 after a long bout with cancer.
The Seattle Seahawks are trying to win. Eagles’ quarterback Kevin Kolb and LT is talking to the Jets and Vikings. Of course, he’s the long-time Chargers running back. Quarterback Matt Moore re-signed with the Carolina Panthers, a one‑year deal for $3 million and Jim Calhoun is close to a new four-year extension at UConn.
It looks like we’re going to get three days of Noah’s Ark rain here in New York City. They’re call for flash flooding. It should be an interesting wet weekend. I don’t care, going to the hockey game tonight. Have a great day everybody. Don’t forget to check out ferrallradio.com.
