Ferrall Recaps His Trip to The Rock!

I went to the Devils/Ranger game last night at the Rock and they were a tame crowd.  There was one good fight in the game.  King Henrik, the Rangers’ goalie, got yanked in the second period after the Devils went up 5-3.  Zajak scored late with about three minutes left to ice it 6-3 for New Jersey.  They looked really good after losing those last two in their Western Conference trip, where they lost in Calgary and got shut out in Edmonton.  Some times you’ll come home from a road trip like that and keep playing bad in the first game back after a trip, but they got it done.  I guess they had a team meeting before the game and got things in order and went out and kicked the Rangers’ ass, but it was a lame crowd.  Nobody was flipping out.  Usually, there’s so much vulgarity and fistfights in this rivalry.  If they play at the Garden or at The Rock, either or, it’s always a scene, but it was pretty mellow last night.  I had a pretty good time.  We hit up Scully’s in Newark.  I went with a lot of my buddies, saw a lot of fans of the show on Howard 101 and ran into my boy, Guido, from ESPN Radio and Sirius XM Radio, Seth Everett and his wife.  They were at the game, so it was cool to see a lot of good friends.  We hung out in the Fire Bar where Chico and Doc Emrick called the game on TV for the Devils, and we just ended up having a great night.  I’m going again on Friday night, taking Gunner to see the Penguins.  The Devils play the Penguins twice, Friday night and then next Wednesday night, so two times against the Atlantic-leading Penguins, who the Devils trail by 3 points in the division race.  So, they’re going to face them twice at home over a five-day span.  It should be great.  Can’t wait to see Sid Crosby and the Penguins, the Stanley Cup Champs, on Friday night.  I’m looking forward to that.

Anyway, the opening round of the ACC, SEC and Big Ten Tournaments are today in college hoops.  Yesterday, in the Big East at the Garden, Marquette by 2 over St. John’s, Georgetown by 20 over South Florida, Notre Dame by 12 over Seton Hall and Cincinnati knocked of Louisville by 3.  Today, the Hoyas against ‘Cuse.  I think that’s the early game at noon from the world’s most famous arena, MSG.  In the middle of it all, the Mad Hatter, Manhattan, people dressed in plastic bags, directing traffic, some kind of fashion, shake it up!.  Anyway, in the Big 12 Tournament Nebraska upset Missouri by 15, Texas Tech by 15 over Colorado, Oklahoma State by 14 over Oklahoma, Texas by 7 over Iowa State, Oregon by 2 in overtime over Washington State in the Pac 10 Conference.  Conference USA quarterfinals are today.  Some of the games:  UTEP against Central Florida, Marshall against Tulsa, UAB against Southern Miss and Memphis takes on Houston.  Robert Morris, the small school out of Pittsburgh, they got into the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, and Montana won the Big Sky Tournament.  They beat Weber State by 1 point at Weber State, so they did it on the road.  Quarterfinals of the Mountain West are today.  A hot team, New Mexico, taking on Air Force, San Diego State against Colorado State, BYU against TCU and UNLV takes on Utah.

Nomar Garciaparra retired as Red Sock yesterday from spring training, and Curtis Granderson, former Tiger, now a Yankee, went 2 for 3 and had a great catch against the wall in the fourth inning in dead center as Granderson took on his former team, the Tigers, for the first time, the Yankees win it 9-8.  Johnny Damon, of course, who left the Yankees and signed with Detroit, sat out the game.  He had a stubbed toe jam.  Oh, that has to hurt.

Matt Cooke of the Penguins won’t be suspended for the vicious shoulder-to-head hit on Marc Savard of the Bruins.  He got lucky.  Hockey last night, Buffalo 5-3 over Dallas, Chicago in overtime beat LA 3-2, Washington in overtime beat Carolina 4-3 and Phoenix in a shootout 4-3 over Vancouver.

NBA Mavs won their 13th straight.  Memphis won by 20 in Boston.  That was a shock.  San Antonio by 10 over the Knicks, Charlotte blew out Philly, Oklahoma City by 15 over New Orleans, Miami by 11 over the Clippers, Denver by 8 over Minnesota, Utah won big in Detroit 115-104 and Sacramento ripped Toronto 113-90.

Don’t forget to check out the vent every day on FerrallRadio.com.  Go to the store and get Shake-It-Up shirts and Team Ferrall Remetee shirts.  Every day there will be picks during the conference tournaments, and NHL, NBA and spring training picks are always up on ScottBeatsTheMan.com.  I’ll be watching tons of hoops today, man.  It’s a blowout conference-tournament style with tons of great games.  I’m all over that scene, and then, like I said, tomorrow night I’m going to the Penguins/Devils at the Rock, again.  Twice to the Rock in one week.  You can’t slow me down.  I’ll see you freaks, again, on the air Monday night, the 15th, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern!
