Ferrall’s Great Night at the Rock and the Upate you need to get ready for Monday’s Return
Fill you in on what shook out last night at the Rock in Newark, Ferrall with the young gun, Gunner, my kid, styling. We went to see the Penguins and Devils in a battle for first in the Atlantic Division. Jersey won it. I can dig it but I just got to tell you, thanks to Jimmy Dowd, the 20‑year veteran Stanley Cup winner in ’95 with the Devils and Brick, New Jersey resident. New Jersey’s finest hockey player ever set us up with just absolute Ghandi seats. We were ten rows behind the Penguin bench in the cush seats, those fat $250.00 per pop seats of love. We had four of them. I brought my buddy and his son, Gunner’s friend and I’ll tell you what, it was unbelievable.
We got to see a great game and New Jersey has owned Pittsburgh all year and they beat them every single time they played them and they did it again last night. Marty Brodeur was unbelievable in that stopping all kinds of freak shots by the Penguins. Pittsburgh bombarded Brodeur with shots and he just kept having an answer for every one of them, snapping them off into the corners, no rebounds and no hope and these same two teams are going to play again next Wednesday, same place at the Rock, unbelievable. The hockey is getting really good. There’s only a few games left. You’re at around 15, 14 games left. It’s going to be chaos. Final week of the season is that first week of April so anyway, then the Stanley Cup playoffs start.
So after the game last night, I was able to go down, obviously, into the locker rooms and see a bunch of the players. Before that, I had gone up to the press box and saw my favorite people, Mike Lange, the legendary Penguins play-by-play guy, and Phil Bourque. Anyway, he’s a longtime Penguin and he won Stanley Cups with the Penguins in the early 90s. They do the radio play by play together and then I saw Paul Steigerwald. Paul Steigerwald and I have quite a history together. In 1987, I got the job of sports director of CBS Radio KQV in Pittsburgh and Paul left the job as sports director to go to the Penguins to become Lange’s sidekick and you know here we are all these years later, still good friends. I saw Paul. He’s the play-by-play guy on TV now for the Penguins and my friend, Bob Errey, former Penguin, Stanley Cup winner, played for the Sharks as well, all good friends of mine, it was cool seeing him and then I went down in the locker room after the game and I hung with Billy Guerin of the Penguins, longtime NHL star.
Then I hung with Sidney Crosby, the legend, Sid the Kid and he remembers Ferrall from our many run ins. He gets a kick out of my show and my interviews with him and we always have a blast when we hook up. He was real cool. We were hanging out after a game. You know here is this guy who plays the night before in Carolina and they lost in overtime. They turned right around and get on a plane and come to Jersey, play again, lost to the Devils. He’s dead tired but he still was going up to chill with Ferrall and then I proceeded to go over to the Devils’ room and had a blast in there as well. I talked to Iyla Kovalchuk. Iyla Kovalchuk, the Devils former Thrasher, we had a good conversation and then I was able to talk to my good dear friend, Patrick Elias, the captain, badass, and Brian Rolston, and I saw Bryce Salvadore, and I mean it was just really cool. You know, I got to hang with players, say hi, saw a bunch of broadcaster friends of mine, EJ Hradek of ESPN and NHL live NHL radio.
So I mean I just saw everybody, Ken Daneko from New Jersey retired, 21 years in the NHL and he won three Stanley Cups and he’s on the Devils TV broadcast for all their games and so I got to see everybody hang out. It was cool, talked to players, saw a great game, packed house. It doesn’t get any better than that for me.
Anyway, nine games tonight in the NHL, some good ones, Detroit and Buffalo, Carolina Phoenix, Vancouver and Ottawa, Chicago and Philly. I mean those are some quality games. Seven NBA games, Mavs and Nicks, sounds good to me and Memphis Denver, I love that. Those are the two best games. College basketball, you’ve got all the conference tournament semis and finals coming up. These are just awesome games; Kentucky and Tennessee, Vandy against Mississippi State, Miami and Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Ohio State against Illinois, Minnesota against Purdue, Kansas versus Kansas State, Cal against Washington, West Virginia against Georgetown, Utah State against New Mexico State. I mean it is just a sick day in hoots in college basketball and then you know tomorrow is selection Sunday so they’re going to have every bid and we’re going to find out who is in the NCAA tournament that starts next Thursday.
The big fight is tonight at Cowboy Stadium in Dallas. It’s Manny Pacquiao against Clotty. Pacquiao versus Clotty and Pacquiao is the heavy favorite here but it still should be a very physical, good entertaining fight.
This idiot quarterback that was going to be a Heisman Trophy finalist for next season, Jeremiah Masoli. He’s their quarterback, the Oregon Ducks in the Pack 10. The guy gets suspended for the entire season next year for robbery. The guy was stealing laptops on campus. What a drip. Nice move doofus. What a doofus. You’re potentially a Heisman winner. You’re one of the best quarterbacks in college football and you’re walking around campus at night stealing laptops from dorm rooms. I mean what kind of a penis move is that?
All I know is my No. 1 play in the NBA on Friday night was the Milwaukee Bucks. They are on fire and they did it for me. They beat Utah in ’95, ’87. Some of the other action, the Lakers were winners. They beat the Suns in Phoenix 102/96. Denver 102/95 over New Orleans. Boston blew out the Pacers. Cleveland by 5 over Philly. San Antonio easy over Minnesota 103/85, I hit that. Miami over Chicago 108/95, I hit that. I hit Memphis over the Nicks. The Grizzlies won it by 7. I mean what don’t I hit. I even had Oklahoma City 104/102 over New Jersey and Charlotte beat the Clippers 106/98, Detroit over Washington 101/87. I hit everything. You can’t slow me down. I even gave you Portland over Sacramento 110/94. I mean who can touch me.
All you got to do is go to Scottbeatstheman.com, every single day of the week, seven days a week, 365 and currently I’m just so hot in the NHL. Of course, Thursday night I went 10 and 0, 10 and 0 on the money line picking NHL hockey winners. You’ve got to love that. NHL, NBA, NCAA every day during the conference tournaments. Get ready for my NCAA tournament picks, they’re going to be huge, buy the package, win some cheddar, everybody will be happy when you’re winning all kinds of jack to pay off your bills. It’s for entertainment purposes only, of course, but check out
Ferrall is back on Howard 101 on Monday night. That’s right, this Monday night, the 15th, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, 5:00 West. You’re not going to want to miss that. Enjoy the weekend. It’s pouring ass rain in New York City, three days of Noah’s Ark conditions. It’s like the Johnstown flood here. I mean it is just miserable. You can’t even leave the house. It’s pouring down rain, driving wind. It’s movie days today and tomorrow and I don’t think I’m going to be able to go to karate on Sunday.
I’m still in agony from last week as my instructor keeps tearing every muscle in my body and beating me down and breaking me down and making me into a fem. I was in such agony this, I told you, I couldn’t sleep. I had pain. I had 34C giving me the thumper, which is my kickass back massager. It’s better than having a masseur. I don’t even know how to spell that but anyway, stay inside, rain and back on the air Monday styling, enjoy all the basketball, hockey, everything going down and I’ll see you freaks tomorrow on the Vent. Shake it up!
