There Was Some Great Baseball on Tuesday!!
Did you see that shellacking the Yankees put on the Blue Jays in Toronto last night? They hit five homeruns and pounded the Jays 11‑5 and they even led by ten runs at one point. Jeter hit one into the upper deck and they just had everybody going off. Granderson had three run shot, Thames hit one, Teixeira hit one, everybody was in on it. The Mets rallied to beat the Marlins 6‑5 at Citi Field with Luis Castillo getting the walk-off hit. The Phillies and Astros played a marathon. When I left the studio they were in the 16th inning and the Astros had a 4‑2 lead. The thrill of the night though in that game was seeing the Phillies after Ryan Howard got thrown out arguing a called third strike on a check swing by the third base umpire where he flipped out and went after the ump with flailing arms while screaming, swearing and calling him every name in the book. They had to restrain him so he didn’t get physical with the guy. So they brought Ibanez in and had him play first. And who was the left fielder? None other than one of their aces – Roy Oswalt went out and played left and then of course they hit the first pitch into left field, a line drive. The Astros, his former team, hit right at him and Oswalt made the play. Yeah, he made the catch. He was styling but the Astros would dole up two runs in the 16th and that’s where I left it.
